For the person just beginning their creative or entrepreneurial journey, taking the first step and putting your work out into the world can be intimidating. We can come up with a plethora of excuses. When this or that happens (you fill in the blank), then we will be ready! But, the truth is we are never fully prepared. The goal post is always moving.

We can’t let “procrastination masquerade as preparation.”

There will be times when we look at our work, especially compared to those who are objectively better at it than we are, and consider giving up. If we can’t be the best, why even bother?

“It’s easier to say, ‘I’m not cut out for this. This isn’t for people like me.’ It’s harder to say, ‘This is the price of admission.’”

We are not perpetual outsiders. We belong in the room, even if our work hasn’t reached epic proportions like those in attendance with us.  As we continue to put our work out into the world we will grow. Our skills start to resemble our taste more closely. Some people will be better at your thing, but the world still needs you. Regardless of your own mixed feelings about your endeavors, you will undoubtedly become someone’s favorite.

The world needs you to show up, right now, just as you are.
